ENTJ

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality test that I recently took. Today at the readiness evaluation retreat with MTW (Mission to the World) I found out my results. I am what is called an ENTJ. This is helpful to know so I can understand my strengths and weaknesses, especially as I work with a team in ministry. Tonight during our prayer and worship time I was overcome with the thought that I should not become a navel-gazer and prayed for God to search me and know me and for Him to reveal to me my faults. Before going to bed, I finally got to read today's entry in "My Utmost for His Highest." God must be trying to make a point. I quote: "We have to get rid of the idea that we understand ourselves." Yes, I read that right after I studied a book that gives a complete explanation of my "type" and was verbally agreeing that it really had me pegged. Another line in Oswald Chambers book, "We can only be used by God after we allow Him to show us the deep, hidden areas of our character." That's what I had prayed!!! I just love how God orchestrates all things together for my good. Praise Him.

The end of my grandmom's generation

I hurried from the Ga Tech homecoming to my great aunt's 98th birthday party in Roswell thinking it may be the last one. I didn't really know Aline Nash, known to me as Aunt 'leen, that well.....yet. At that party I learned that she had only stopped driving a year or so before. By her 100th birthday party, I was living in Mississippi and was able to join her many friends and family as we celebrated her life. I found out that her nickname was "Zeene." Her reputation of having a heavy foot and being the favored "taxi driver" made me recognize our family resemblance. We moved to GA after she turned 101, but since we still had family in MS, we Ialways tried to visit. I had opportunities to visit Aunt 'leen in her three different assisted-living homes, always thinking each would be the last. Her rooms were adorned with photos, certificates, a US-Presidential-autographed letter, and her amazing tatting. She even tried to teach me how to tat; I videoed it. I have one of her tatted angels, numbered and signed. One of her angels has been sold in the Smithsonian Museum gift shop! Melea, my young daughter, listened with me to her interesting stories. Her mind was always sharp as a tack. She could remember all eight of my children's names. In answer to the question, "What memory do you have of a US president?" she colorfully told the story of her one-room school going down to the train station to see Taft as he rode by. She had a "tie stool" she had made from a wooden chair. Using old neck ties like cane, she wove a very sturdy seat. We've since made one, also. I was in GA when she turned 104 so I called to tell her "happy birthday." Maybe her last. While I had her on the phone, I asked the question everyone always asked me, "What's your secret?" She quickly responded, "If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret, now would it!" The real last time I got to visit was the summer of '07. She was 105. I went with her to the dining room. She was wheeled in a chair, first time I didn't see her walk. But, when I asked if the food was good she smartly replied with a twinkle in her eyes, "If you like it!" A year and a half later, without ever having major surgery, Aline Nash gave in to congestive heart failure at 107.

A Good Day

The year is ending and I've had a good next to last working day of 2008. It started with a bridal luncheon (all new customers) and ended with two new afternoon tea takers. Got all my fees paid so I'm in business for another year! I also got four reservations for Tea Tasting on Monday! I'm celebrating National Hot Tea Month with professional Tea Tastings and free tea sampling. Tea is so relaxing.....I'm enjoying a cup of white tea as I blog. Off I go to ..................zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Habits

Why can't I make it a habit to do things I really want to do like regularly post a blog but I do have a bad habit of staying up too late? Sounds a bit Pauline, I guess. And, then there is the problem of having an interesting subject to write about (as if anyone else is going to read it)! The topics of discussion could be any of a very wide variety of choices: Elijah's first birthday party, staying up trying to get Melea to finish her report, the mystery birthday party that had surprise mysteries, the Christmas program script that is developing, football games, baby shower tea parties, books to write, business to do, recipes to try, or who knows what else. I do have a habit of over-extending myself! I have a habit of being a master at being a Jack of all trades.....Wish I could execute the 7 habits of a highly successful person, but I don't know what they are. Guess that's a great book to read, like I have time to read a book. But I do have about five books about life coaching I want to read. Life coaching really intriques me. Oops, I also have a bad habit of not staying on the subject. It all boils down to the fact that I don't have a habit of being bored!!! I have a habit of enjoying life!

another electronic sleep stealer

Why am I up after midnight posting a blog? Because I just joined twitter and there's a place to put my blog address. Well, I realized that although I have a blog space, I haven't posted anything lately. So, now I have!

To Market To Market

Market...America's Mart in Atlanta, that is. It is overwhelming!!! However, since I've been coming to market for about five years, I'm not quite so enamored by everything. The last couple of markets I've been on a quest for a specific product. Last time it was a private labeled product and I found an awesome hand and body lotion that looks, feels, and smells amazing. This time I was on a quest to find a "green way" shopping bag. I've found it....from Tokyobay. A great bag that is made from recycled plastic bottles! They look great and best of all they fold up into a little pocket. That makes them more likely to be tucked in a purse and end up at the store!
